My English Grammar Assignment

1.       The differences between Functional Grammar and other grammars:
I think Functional grammar looks at the way in which grammar is used to construct texts in their context of use. it’s concerned in:
·         analyzing experience - what is going on,
·         analyzing interaction - who is communicating with whom
·         analyzing the ways in which messages are constructed
in analyzing experiences, we are all going to study about our activity in daily life. It means functional grammar are talking about our grammar that we use every day (functional). In analyzing interaction, we discussed about the way we speak in a formal and informal situation, also for whom we speak to. It also means the manner of speaking. The last, in analyzing the ways in which messages are constructed, we will talk about how to arrange the word to be a good sentence and how we can make the sentences understood by our opposite speaker (meaning). So, we will not make our opposite speaker misunderstand.
While, other Grammars only stop in constructing the sentences and the pattern of each sentences. Other grammars just talk about the formulas that we use in the different time, like past, future and past perfect. it doesn’t talk about the context of use like the functional grammar. So, I think the functional grammar should be the best grammar that we have to learn about. Because The content of functional grammar is more complete than any other grammar.
